New Zealand's certification regime takes shape
RiskCherry joined counterparts from other independent test labs for a call with the New Zealand Department of Internal Affairs on the certification process and requirements coming in under the Online Casino Gambling Act.
The approach was collaborative, and with a number of familiar faces from the other labs in the room it felt much like the way labs engage with the Swiss Federal Gaming Board. It sets a good tone for what comes next.
For RiskCherry, our existing approvals from the UK Gambling Commission and the AGCO in Ontario mean we can certify for New Zealand against the new standards and regulations.
There is good news for suppliers as well. RNGs and games certified for the UK or Ontario and supplied to an operator before that operator's licence start date will only need to move to a New Zealand certificate if they are ever recertified. Only RNGs and games introduced after the licence start date need New Zealand-specific certification from the outset. Content already tested against comparable standards can go live without adding cost or delay.
A good deal of common sense has gone into the launch of this regime without loosening what compliance actually requires. Some operational gaps still need to be settled, and quickly, while the auction-winning operators complete their applications. If you want to talk through what New Zealand means for your roadmap, get in touch.

Gaming Intelligence covers our growth to 24 markets
Thank you to Gaming Intelligence for covering our expansion in "RiskCherry grows presence to 24 iGaming markets".
The article reports five new jurisdictions in three months: Croatia in July, Colombia in August, then Buenos Aires Province, Bulgaria and most recently Santa Fe in September. That takes our Latin American presence from one market to four, alongside twenty in Europe and North America.
As Rob Fell told Gaming Intelligence, it comes down to "one simple process and a map that keeps growing", and "there is a great deal more coming".
The Caja de Asistencia Social, Lotería de Santa Fe, has approved RiskCherry to certify for the province of Santa Fe.
It is our second Argentine province in under three weeks, following Buenos Aires Province on 1 September. Studios expanding across Argentina can now cover both from a single submission.
Market approval
Approved in Bulgaria
RiskCherry has been approved by the National Revenue Agency (NRA) to certify for the Bulgarian market.
Bulgaria is where most of our testing team is based, so this one is close to home. Game and RNG certification for the Bulgarian market is open now.
Market approval
Approved in Buenos Aires Province, Argentina
RiskCherry has been entered on the register of certifying laboratories held by the Instituto Provincial de Lotería y Casinos (IPLyC) for Buenos Aires Province.
This is our first approval in Argentina and opens the largest of the provincial markets to studios we already work with.
Events
We will be at SBC Summit Lisbon
The RiskCherry team will be at SBC Summit Lisbon from 29 September to 1 October, senior leadership included.
If you are going to be there and want to talk about certification, we are happy to make time. Useful things to bring: the markets you are targeting next, the roadmap you need cleared, or anything about how we work that you would rather ask in person than read on a website.
Email enquiries@riskcherry.com to get a slot in the diary before it fills up.
Market approval
Approved in Colombia
Coljuegos has approved RiskCherry to certify for the Colombian market.
Colombia was the first regulated online market in Latin America and remains one of the most established. Game and RNG certification is available now.
Market approval
Approved in Croatia
The Ministry of Finance has approved RiskCherry to certify for the Croatian market.
Game and RNG certification for suppliers and operators targeting Croatia is available now.
Events
Two days at iGB Live London
iGB Live is at ExCeL London on 1 and 2 July, and we will be there for both days.
Two days is tight for a show that size. If there is something specific you want to cover, certification for a market you are moving into, turnaround against a roadmap, or a proper look at the Client Portal, tell us beforehand and we will make sure the right person is free rather than hoping to catch each other on the floor.
Email enquiries@riskcherry.com and we will put it in the diary.
Events
NEXT.io Valletta, our home fixture
NEXT.io comes to Valletta on 27 and 28 May, at the Mediterranean Conference Centre.
This one is a short walk from our office, so we will have more of the team there than we usually take to a show, and more of the people who actually run the testing rather than only the ones who talk about it.
If you would rather see the lab properly than talk over a stand, say so and we will arrange something around the summit while you are on the island. Email enquiries@riskcherry.com.
Market approval
Approved in Alberta, Canada
The Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Commission (AGLC) has approved RiskCherry to certify for the Alberta market.
The approval landed more than three months ahead of Alberta's market go-live on 13 July 2026, so studios had certification in place before day one rather than queuing behind it.
Alberta is our second Canadian province, alongside Ontario. Game, RNG and RGS certification are all in scope.
CharityEvents
Our CEO stepped into the ring for charity
RiskCherry CEO Rob Fell took on Ben Cleminson, CEO of Square In The Air, at the SBC Charity Boxing Night in London. Ben won by TKO in the second round.
The night raised over €140,000 for The Oliver's Wish Foundation and the charities it supports, which was rather more important than the result.
Market approval
Approved in Portugal
RiskCherry has been approved by the Serviço de Regulação e Inspeção de Jogos (SRIJ) to certify for the Portuguese market.
Game and RNG certification for suppliers and operators targeting Portugal is available now.

Client Portal update
New Client Portal features are live, including client-initiated 2FA reset, admin access management and instant IP whitelisting, alongside a set of workflow improvements.
Each one removes a reason to wait on our support team, which is the point.
2025
Events
ICE Barcelona in January
ICE is back in Barcelona from 19 to 21 January, at Fira Gran Via, and RiskCherry will be there across all three days.
January is when most studios fix their release plan for the year, which makes it the right moment to talk about the markets you are adding and what certification for those actually involves. The clients who get the fastest turnaround from us are the ones who share that plan early, because it lets us reserve capacity against it rather than react to it.
If you want time with us at the show, email enquiries@riskcherry.com and we will sort it before the diary fills.
StrategyProduct
Certification as a product, not a service
We formalised an approach we had been building toward for some time: treating certification as a product rather than a service.
That means defined scope, repeatability, automation and predictable delivery, supported by the Client Portal and CheriX. It moves certification away from bespoke consulting and toward something that scales.
StrategyProduct
CheriX as the engine behind certification as a product
Structured knowledge, automation and deterministic workflows are what make defined scope and predictable delivery possible across many regulated markets at once.
CheriX is the layer that holds those together.

Lithuania's responsible gambling rules take effect on 1 November 2025
Lithuania's Gaming Control Authority has approved new Rules for Organising Responsible Gambling, by Order No. DIE-245 of 17 June 2025. They come into force on 1 November 2025.
The rules cover player behaviour monitoring, risk assessment, staff training and control systems. Points 21, 23.3 to 23.4, 25.3, 26 to 28.5, 30 and 32 to 63 must be checked when remote gaming platforms are certified, and we are updating our testing to match.
Events
Find us at SBC Summit Lisbon
SBC Summit runs from 16 to 18 September at Feira Internacional de Lisboa, and we will be there for all three days.
Come and find us if you want to talk about getting content certified for a market you have not entered yet, or if you want to see what the Client Portal actually does rather than what a brochure says it does. We would rather show you than describe it.

CheriX comes to the Client Portal

It marked the move from internal tooling to controlled client-facing use.
Product
CheriX reasons across jurisdictions
CheriX was shown handling comparative reasoning across multiple regulated markets, covering approval scope, certification requirements and jurisdiction-specific constraints.
It is a compliance reasoning engine, not a content generator.

Why we built CheriX ourselves
CheriX is built in house rather than assembled from generic AI tools.
The priority is deterministic output, structured knowledge and regulatory correctness, not prompt-based productivity.
Product
CheriX is a platform, not a chatbot
CheriX is not a single assistant. It is an internal AI platform supporting certification, compliance reasoning, pricing logic and operational decision-making.

UK technical standards change on 17 January 2025
New and updated UK Gambling Commission remote technical standards (RTS) come into force on 17 January 2025.

Resolution ETA comes to the Client Portal
Every open bug in the Client Portal now has a Resolution ETA field in its header bar. When we raise a finding, clients can log in and add the date they expect to fix it.
We plan certification work in weekly sprints, Monday to Friday, planned each Friday. A game blocked by an open bug with no fix date cannot be scheduled with confidence, so it waits for the next sprint. A Resolution ETA keeps it in the plan, which means faster delivery.

It does not change certification directly. The consultation closes on 21 February 2024.

Denmark publishes certification programme version 2.0
The Danish Gambling Authority has published version 2.0 of its certification programme, with changes to the general requirements, testing standards and inspection standards.
The first certification must now be completed as part of the licence application, without errors or shortcomings. RNG requirements are merged into one section, the rule that a game takes at least 3 seconds moves into the testing standards, and testing of live casino equipment such as roulette wheels, card shufflers and shoes is added.
The inspection standards add a requirement for information on jackpot probability, and cash out on bets is now covered under special gambling functionality.
