RiskCherry can certify for New Zealand against the new standards, on the strength of our UK Gambling Commission and Ontario approvals.
RiskCherry joined counterparts from other independent test labs for a call with the New Zealand Department of Internal Affairs on the certification process and requirements coming in under the Online Casino Gambling Act.
The approach was collaborative, and with a number of familiar faces from the other labs in the room it felt much like the way labs engage with the Swiss Federal Gaming Board. It sets a good tone for what comes next.
For RiskCherry, our existing approvals from the UK Gambling Commission and the AGCO in Ontario mean we can certify for New Zealand against the new standards and regulations.
There is good news for suppliers as well. RNGs and games certified for the UK or Ontario and supplied to an operator before that operator's licence start date will only need to move to a New Zealand certificate if they are ever recertified. Only RNGs and games introduced after the licence start date need New Zealand-specific certification from the outset. Content already tested against comparable standards can go live without adding cost or delay.
A good deal of common sense has gone into the launch of this regime without loosening what compliance actually requires. Some operational gaps still need to be settled, and quickly, while the auction-winning operators complete their applications.
